I earned this sticker by checking in at The Bachelorette on GetGlue.com

Oh, Emily, you are just so sweet. Everyone is falling for you! This episode of The Bachelorette was about romance, fun, entertainment, dreams, comedy, nerves, pain, heartbreak and drama. It’s a mish-mosh of characters and you get the feeling that anything could happen. Even Charlotte, NC is a character on the Bachelorette and is making quite a hit. The show opened with a news report of how the show was being filmed in Charlotte. The town is happy to have a positive light shed on them to bring more publicity to the quaint Southern town. It’s neat to see Emily meet with her family and friends, she is lucky to have a support system with her on this journey. This episode of the Bachelor/Bachelorette seems to be the most genuine.

Chris Harrison gathers the gentlemen and explains the dating process. This time, individual dates will have an immediate elimination penalty. If Emily doesn’t give her date a rose, he goes home.

Be my King in Queen City

The first Date Card arrives and Ryan gets the first individual date. This is getting real. It’s all or nothing for Ryan.

All the hot guys are in the pool and we get to see them all bare chested and skin, tattoos, and muscles showing, glistening wet eye candy all around.

Emily made me laugh when she said, “You are going to help me bring in the groceries.” She drives up to her own house and tells Ryan they are going to bake cookies for Ricki’s soccer team snack. Luckily Ryan embraced it and saw the romance in the idea of spending “mom time” with Emily. Emily says that he, “Passed the cookie test.” I love that she didn’t have Ryan meet Ricki at the soccer field. Emily showed a lot of sincerity and care for her child. After leaving the soccer field, Emily said, “Now we are going to go to Chuck E, Cheese’s.” That is a good idea for a date, Emily!! Ryan was totally ready for it!

Rather than going to the place where a kid could be a kid, the couple was now on their way to an elegant dinner. Emily dressed in a hot red dress and sexy heels. After a great toast by Ryan, Emily gets right down to the serious questions. . . his ex-girlfriends are the first topic. Emily puts things on the line – she is “not going to be the prize for this competition.”Ryan promises to not “compete, but to put my best foot forward.”Ryan talks about wanting children right away and how he would want to love Ricki just as his own children. . . wow! I was impressed by this first date and the serious discussion that ensued. Emily gives Ryan the rose and promises that she is going to give him a chase!!

The date isn’t over then, as Emily leads Ryan outside down an alley, she has her favorite band, Gloriana, play for them and they dance with a crowd of people watching and snapping pictures. Oh how not romantic! At this point I think Emily is being a big show off in front of the town. They looked good together as they danced, but I thought it was odd.

Let’s Set the Stage for Love.

The Group Date Card arrives and most of the guys are invited to “set the stage for love.” Emily organizes a fundraising event at a small local theater to benefit the Levine Hospital. The men are given their performance assignments and as they meet the Muppets, they quickly realize that they will be performing in a variety show with Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and Fozzie Bear! This poses a problem for Charlie, who suffers from severe stage fright as a result from his recovering from the accident when he fell from a second story balcony. He goes to see Emily to tell her about his speech problem and insecurities from his accident. In a very touching gesture Emily assures Charlie that she is glad he told her about it and that he does not have to do the comedy routine in front of the audience.

The Muppet Bachelorette Show was great!! Ricki loved it! Chris Harrison was a hoot! Tony did a great Kermit impression!! The guys looked great dancing and singing in their top hats and tails. The comedy bit bombed, thank goodness Fozzie Bear came to the rescue! Aaron, Charlie and and Jef got interrogated by Miss Piggie, The Dating Game style. Miss Piggy asked Jef to show her how he would propose and his proposal was very sweet. Charlie was awesome as he answered Miss Piggy’s questions. Even Stevie liked him!

Come Close to My Heart

Joe received the next one on one Date Card, and this one was a fun over the top date – flying by jet to the Green Brier fancy shmancy hotel in West Virginia! Oh yeah, Emily goes swimming with Joe!! Later they go out to a romantic dinner. Joe is speechless as Emily comes down the stairs like a classic Southern Belle.

Emily begins to have a serious talk with Joe about striking the balance in a relationship. But she just isn’t feeling it. She shows him this beautiful tradition that takes place at this hotel, it’s the Love Clock – where you can put notes about your love for each other and see if they stand the test of time. Emily begins crying and we know that she is going to break his heart. Joe seems truly worried about what is wrong, and he realizes what she is trying to say, no rose for Joe, he is going home. The saddest part of this date is when the romantic fireworks begin and Emily is left to wtch them alone. Ouch, that burned!

The Rose Ceremony

Kalon – was the first to receive a rose, yes, really! Kalon, the helicopter guy, AKA “chopper” is one smooth talking gentleman, he bares his soul and captures Emily’s heart, but the smooth talking rubs all the guys the wrong way. Chris is such a babe, he is my fave, I am so glad he got a rose. Emily told him that he is such a good looking guy, and she is not sure if she could fall for a good looking guy again. Doug will be coming back, but he does not seem happy to be there and barely said anything to Emily as she asked him to please accept the rose, he simply answered, “Yeah.” I think he was upset that Kalon is coming back, too. Doug, the single dad, totally challenged Kalon and played dirty not giving him the chance to explain his immature feelings about parenthood. Travis seemed to be very happy to get a rose. Alessandro looked like he spent a lot of time in the sun, he barely spent anytime with Emily, he even looked sunburned, maybe he was just blushing as he accepted his rose. Charlie is such a cutie pie, I can totally see he and Emily together, I’m glad she thinks so, too. The final rose tonight goes to . . . Stevie – yikes that was close! He is cute – but I dont think he will last. He is very opinionated and I think he will get in trouble with the other guys. Emily is saying good-bye Aaron, the biology teacher, who reminds me of Clark Kent, with the black rimmed glasses. Kyle spoke no words at all to Emily when he left. He was very matter of fact when he said to the cameras that he should have opened up more – and that his heart is broken. How could his heart be broken after one week?

Ryan, the sign guy, already had a rose from his one on one date, so he was safe but he gave Emily a long letter. . . and she reads it aloud, just before the rose ceremony. That was just wrong. Tony, prince charming, is coming back, too. I think he is a dweeb, I personally don’t think he is good enough for Emily. She already has one kid to take care of. Tony stood the test of time, though and listened to Emily read Ryan’s entire 7-page letter. Way to stick with it man! He wanted to talk to her about his son. She didn’t know that he has a 5 year old son. Doug isn’t the only single dad on the show.

Ari, the race car guy, didnt get a date this week, but he got to sit with Emily and talk in a beautiful romantic candlelit setting. As they made small talk, Emily admitted that he makes her nervous. I think she has the hots for him! Jef, the young water guy, and Emily didn’t have much time to talk, but they exchanged some “awkward glances” – and he got the rose on the group date. Something about that boy intrigues Emily, I haven’t figured it out yet.
