Share your brief bio:
Pattie Cordova is a 20-something Latina mom of two young boys who is always on the go. Living Mi Vida Loca is her outlet where she gets to talk about where she’s been, what products she is using, and what she’s watching. She refuses to compromise style, beauty or fun.
Tell us a little about your family.
I have been married for *almost* 11 years to the man of my dreams and we have two crazy little boys, ages 4.5 and 14 months old.
How do you prioritize time between your family and your blog?
I blog throughout the day, check in via my phone and/or iPad and really buckle down at 8 pm at night when the kids go to sleep.
How do you relax?
The only time I can really relax is when I’m asleep.
When did you start your blog?
I started my blog in 2009.
Why did you start blogging?
It started off as a place to share my vintage finds and rapidly transformed into something more mainstream featuring my lifestyle, events that I attend, products that I love and other various topics.
How did you choose your blog name?
I wanted something that would incorporate my Latina-ess, while sharing with everyone that this blog would be about me and what I liked, did, etc.
What keeps you motivated and inspired to blog?
The motivation comes from wanting my kids to experience things and places that I never had. I didn’t grow up having new clothes, going on vacations (other than Mexico) or having new techy products. Through my blog I have been able to give this to my kids and more! All while staying home with them.
Where do you see your blog and yourself in 5 years?
I would like to see Living Mi Vida Loca as an all-encompassing blog filled with contributors. Somewhere where women and men everywhere can share what they’re up to.
Biggest life lesson learned since blogging?
Remember who you are. Do not get caught up in the companies that are interested in working with you. In the end, there is always someone coming up behind you and if you lose who you are, you’ve lost everything.
What is your secret to success?
Make friends to make friends, not to have connections. I am completely transparent and I do not lie.
What do you wish someone would have told you when you first started blogging?
I wish someone would have told me the unspoken rules of blogging.
All bloggers encounter writer’s block. How do you get past this?
I grab a product and review it. It’s always a great starting point to get the fingers moving.
What has been your sweetest success story?
I was honored and flabbergasted when Walt Disney Co. asked me to attend a press trip to Walt Disney World. I was able to take my 4 year old on his first plane trip, his first trip to Disney and we enjoyed some quality 1-on-1 time.
What has been your most popular posts?
My most popular post was the one where I talked about how I wish I could be proud of my flat-chest. The other one is where I shared how to make a crayon tote bag.
Who are some of your favorite California bloggers that inspire you and that you enjoy reading?
I read A LOT of local CA blogs. Some of my favorites: Sarcastic, Funny and Brutally Honest, Daytripping Mom, Tech. Food. Life, Thoughts of a Mommy and Rockin’ Mama.
How long have you lived in California?
I have been here all my life.
Where is your favorite relaxation location in California?
Burke-Williams offers some great massages and the LashSpot Spa is great. I can take a nap while my lashes are done!
Do you belong to any other social media networks to promote your blog?
I belong to all the major social media networks and I rely heavily on word of mouth.
Have you attended any social media conferences? If so, which ones?
I have been to one, Hispanicize, and it was wonderful. It helped me get my feet wet and understand the best way to make connections.
Share your favorite quote or inspirational thought:
Life is hard, it’s harder if you’re stupid. – John Wayne
Tell us something that most people would be surprised to learn about you.
I didn’t set out to be a blogger. I have years of experience as an Executive Assistant and always thought that I would live and die in corporate world. Things change!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I appreciate every single person that takes the time to visit my blog, comment, enter giveaways, etc. I don’t take anything for granted and I’m eternally grateful that I am able to blog and help my family experience new places and products.
Do you send out a monthly newsletter? How can we get on your mailing list if we are interested in more information?
I have a link on the right hand side on my blog where you can sign up to get my a daily email with my new blog posts.
